:: baby c's woodland whimsy nursery ::

We finished Baby C's nursery last week and we could not be happier with how all of our old and new pieces ended up working together for the woodland whimsy look we were going for. We were given a lovely wooden rocker by a friend, the antique dresser from my Dad, and found our simple crib at IKEA (Gulliver model). Our favourite find was our Expedit shelf from the As-is section of IKEA - we love the unique look with the white and espresso. The best part was, we did not have to put it together! And it was discounted! It works really well to showcase all of Baby C's little shoes, books and keepsakes.

Hopefully he will be making his arrival soon :)

In other news, I am participating in the "Cans for Comments" challenge with a group of bloggers. I will donate a canned or boxed food item to my local food bank for every comment left on my blog from Dec 1-10!

:: one month to christmas ::

First, I am sorry for not finishing my 12 days of christmas posts. We were faced with a family tragedy over the weekend and blogging has been on the backburner.

Today marks one month to Christmas. Our house is decorated, gifts are bought and will be wrapped shortly so I have accomplished my goal. What I am most thankful for though, is the love of family and the blessing of time spent with them.

As we approach the holidays, I hope we can continue to remember that the most important part of this season is not finding the perfect gifts, but appreciating the wonderful gifts that we have in our family and friends. You truly never know when someone could be taken from you, so we must celebrate each moment that we are together.

I hope to be back to blogging soon....though the arrival of our baby in the next week may make that interesting :) I will try and post an announcement once he arrives.

:: winter birth announcements at tiny prints ::

If you are like me and expecting a special delivery from Santa this year, you have to check out the birth announcements at Tiny Prints! How will we ever choose a card to announce our little bundle of joy? Good thing I have all the Christmas cards addressed already....just need to make a final design decision once the little guy is here!

:: christmas onesies ::

I have been searching for the perfect Christmas pyjamas for our little one's Christmas Eve gift and finally found a very cute sleeper at Winners earlier this week.

Since I have been a shopaholic lately, I popped into Gap Generation yesterday and could not resist picking up some other Christmas-themed wear. I can't wait to see him wearing these adorable onesies.

Anyone else have a tradition of getting new pyjamas on Christmas Eve?

:: christmas creatures in paper by mibostudio ::

Today's 12 days of Christmas post is for those with school-age kids at home, or the crafty mama's out there!

These adorable paper creatures are created by you when you purchase the PDF files from Etsy seller MiboStudio. Wouldn't this be a great snowy day craft? I just looooove the reindeer! They could adorn a shelf in your home this Christmas, or act as placecards at your holiday table.

The owls are just too cute and may be making an appearance in our little guys room! Stay tuned for nursery pictures soon!

:: sprig toys ::

I went shopping today and visited a great shop called PURE at Mallzac (aka CrossIron Mills Mall) and saw these fab trucks by Sprig Toys for the second time. Yep, this girly girl is getting all excited about dump trucks! I can't wait until our little guy can play with toys like these!

I first discovered Sprig at the Calgary Farmer's Market and Hubs and I both thought the trucks were so neat. I especially love that they are made out of a mix of recycled plastics and reclaimed wood.

Watch this YouTube video for more info, and check the Canadian distributor's website for more info on where you can buy these eco-toys!

:: toys by melissa & doug ::

I have been doing lots of shopping for family and friends on this year. I love that they have free and super-quick shipping on orders over $39. You can also collect Air Miles by shopping on their website.

Until I was expecting, I had not really noticed what neat toys they stock! For the 0-2 age group, I am loving these alphabet nesting blocks, plush tool-kit, and stacker rings (all by Melissa & Doug).

I think I may need to order that plush tool-kit for Baby C.......Daddy would be so proud!

If you are expecting a baby in December, some sort of Santa get-up is required! I love this hat by Etsy Shop Dragonfly Creations! As you can see, it is an outfit by itself :)

:: christmas ideas for baby ::

Christmas cheer is spreading at our household as we await our baby boy. We are in full decorating mode, and my goal is to have all gifts bought and wrapped very soon!

Today starts the Mon Petit Amour Blog's 12 days of Christmas! We are 12 days from November 25th, which marks one month before my favourite day of the year. Since I am doing mostly online shopping this year, this is the day I have set as my deadline to have all my shopping done. I am hoping it will create a more stress-free holiday for our little family. Watch the blog for 12 days of gift ideas for mommies and babies.

I love Etsy for original gifts and these candy cane crawler covers (topped with faux fur) are too cute! Available in Toddler and Baby sizes, they would make a great gift for any little girl on your list!

:: pregnant camila alves rocks isabella oliver maternity ::

Although I am sad that my dreamboat boyfriend (ahem! celebrity crush!) Matthew McConaughey has evidently settled down with his girlfriend, and soon to be mother of two, Camila Alves, I cannot help but admit that the girl has style!

Here she is rocking the Tie Knot Dress from my favourite maternity designer Isabella Oliver. I absolutely adore her dresses, and I am so so so glad I have one of my own. Especially as I creep up on 38 weeks pregnant and feel like all I should be wearing are muumuus! Her dresses always make you feel and look like a million dollars. The fabric and fit are perfect and the dresses are designed to hug all the right places on a blossoming body. I wear my black Isabella Oliver dress all the time paired with different blazers, cardigans and necklaces for many, many different looks - it is a must-have staple piece in any maternity wardrobe! I may even break it out for my maternity pictures this weekend.

Click on the Isabella Oliver ad on the sidebar to browse her online shop. Don't forget to check out the outlet section of the store where many of the lovely maternity pieces are up to 60% off! It's enough to make this pregnant lady wish she was pregnant for a little while longer.....just to splurge on another lovely outfit.

:: full term and fully nesting ::

First, I have to apologize for the lack of posts in the last little while! I have been busy busy wrapping up work and report cards, but I am happy to report that I am now on maternity leave and my time is now devoted to preparing for baby......and hopefully blogging about my progress!

I am officially full-term! I am 37 weeks pregnant and in full-on nesting mode. My house is clean and getting decorated for Christmas. I have been online shopping up a storm, getting all my gifts bought and wrapped early so I can avoid the germy shopping centres (don't even get me started on my H1N1 hysteria and resulting hibernation!) and I am baking and cooking every day. Hubs sure likes that last part!

I recently discovered FoodGawker and I am in love! This fantastic website features beautiful food-tography (ha! just made that up!) with links to the blogs featuring the recipes. It is endlessly inspirational and I am making the delish Dutch Apple Muffins pictured above this morning - found on Big, Bold, Beautiful Food Blog. Also on the list of muffins to make (and freeze....if the Hubs does not eat them up first!) are:

- Pumpkin Applesauce Muffins (from the Eat Clean Cookbook by Tosca Reno)
- Zucchini Pineapple Muffins
- Carrot Apple Bran Flax Muffins (from Allrecipes)
- Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
- Bran Blueberry Muffins
- Lemon Cranberry Muffins
- Steel Cut Oat Scones

I figure these should be good in the first weeks and months when I am snacking all the time to meet that lovely high calorie requirement for nursing!

I also have big plans to make and freeze some meals:

- Cheese and Spinach Canneloni
- Lasagna
- Enchiladas
- Butternut Squash Soup
- Guinness Beef Stew
- Black Bean and Corn Chili

Any other ideas for this wannabe domestic goddess? Bon appetit!

:: packing my bags ::

One of my missions for this week is to finish packing my hospital bag. Because we are delivering with midwives, it is likely we will be discharged a couple of hours after Baby C's arrival on the scene. However, if anything goes not as planned we might end up staying overnight....

I am struggling to pack everything I need without falling into my regular trap of packing for a month away when I am only going on a day trip! Here are some must-have items I have in there already on the recommendation of friends....anything else to add?

- gatorade and snacks to keep our energy up
- lip balm
- warm socks
- black undies (3 pairs)
- change of clothes for daddy
- camera and extra batteries
- toiletries for a shower afterwards
- comfy going-home outfit for mom
- nipple cream (I am going to buy the Earth Mama Angel Baby one - friends give it rave reviews!)
- diapers and a couple outfits for baby

:: woodland nursery sneak peek ::

We were busy busy yesterday putting up our lovely decals from ArtWallProject and filling our new Expedit bookcase (a steal of a deal from the as-is section at IKEA - we love the unique dual colours IKEA hack with no work on our end!) with books, toys and other decorations.
It is officially "our month" and Baby C's nursery is coming along really nicely. Watch for more posts about the little guy's room coming soon.....since I am now officially done working and I can now do some full-time nesting!
