:: the happiness project ::

I went to Chapters this evening for some Mommy Alone Time while Hunter stayed home with Daddy. I got myself a decaf mocha and spent some time lazily perusing the books, trying to decide which one to pick up for our weekend trip out to BC.

I stumbled upon Gretchen Rubin's The Happiness Project and I was intrigued by the title. I skimmed the book jacket, and thought I would look it up when I went home and put it on my library holds list. {Yes, I go to the bookstore to get ideas on which books to take out from the library - maternity leave budget! Well, that and I love the library but I need a list when I go otherwise I end up wandering aimlessly}

I've been thinking a lot recently about happiness and living in the moment. Hunter is so much fun lately and I am becoming more and more aware that these moments with him - both the screeching ones and the quiet sleepy baby ones - are it. I know I'm going to look back fondly on this time and so I am trying to drink in these moments, because I know that as the video says - the days are long, but the years are short - and this time is flying by at warp speed already. Only 3.5 months until I have to go back to work - ah!

Ok, sappy moment over. Happy Long Weekend! I promise some pictures of Hunter in his tie at the wedding, I am really looking forward to it! Way shorter road trip for this mini vacation too.

p.s - While I wait for my turn to read the book from the library, I am really enjoying Gretchen's blog here. Lots of food for thought about happiness. It's just what I needed to read today.

  1. Hey, I found your blog from a comment you made on Making It Lovely. I finished reading The Happiness Project just a month or so ago, it's a pretty good read. I thought it kind of petered out at the end, but as a whole, it was good. My friend suggested to me that I take notes as I read it as she had done, and it was a good suggestion.

    I hope you like the book, I didn't realize it was going to be a movie. :)
