:: monday morning freebie - ABC prints for the nursery ::

Yep, you heard me right! These are free printable ABC prints.

You can download the PDFs here at the Kind over Matter blog. Check out oodles of other freebies on this blog here.

There are so many lovely free printables out there in the blogosphere, but I find they are hard to discover via google. I usually find them through random blog surfing. I am also loving this free menu planner from Ollibird (that I found via Daffodil Design) Just need to get it laminated so it can hang on our fridge!

:: birthday obsessed ::

My little boy is turning one in a few months and I am officially first birthday obsessed. Thank goodness for Martha Stewart, HipHipHooray, Catch my Party, and the other great party blogs I am beginning to discover out there. Which is your favourite? And isn't this bandana party cute?

:: vintage floral wallpaper ::

I am kind of obsessed right now with wallpaper. There is a store in the mall that has the most beautiful change rooms that are each wallpapered in a different bold, feminine print. I am in love with one that has a buttery yellow backround and clusters of pink roses (kind of like the above this fabric I found on the vintage section of Etsy). I am going to ask them next time who the decorator was for the store - I need to know where to get it. I would love to create a little girl's nursery with this kind of wallpaper above a some wainscotting.

I also spent an hour browsing the wallpaper on Home Depot  - I am going to try and convince the husband to do a wall in our bedroom. Thanks to Sarah at Daffodil Design for the real life wallpaper inspiration! I love her mudroom makeover. Her craftiness never ceases to amaze me!

:: new blog to follow - little moth design ::

I love it when I find a new blog to read through a comment! Ms Moth of Little Moth Design came for a visit via the Modern Mommy Blog and I have found another gorgeous (and Canadian) design blog to follow. If you are looking for nursery or children's room inspiration - go and visit!

I especially loved these prints she featured {found on etsy}. Of course I can always use another Canadian etsy seller to love too - as a French teacher j'adore this shop....might have to pick up some prints for my office at school!

p.s It's this kind of "discovering" that tempts me to waste hours and hours every day on the computer! Hunter the stair climber doesn't allow it though!

:: channelling weelicious - mini meatloaf muffins ::

I think I've posted before about how much I love the weelicious website. Catherine inspires me to cook good food for my little guy - and to make things that I would like to eat too!

The weather has turned cold here in Calgary, and I was making some Guinness Beef Stew for the Hubs last night and thought since I had everything out that I would make a batch of mini meatloaves to freeze for the little monster to eat throughout the week. They really come in handy on days like today when I don't feel like cooking!

I also feel the need to tell you that I had never had meatloaf until I made these! It's not all that bad! I adapted the recipe from the Joy of Cooking meatloaf recipe (left out the salt, horseradish, bacon, onions and pepper)

Mini Meatloaf Muffins

1 pound ground beef (I used PC "free from" Angus Beef - love that I can get antibiotic/hormone free beef at Superstore now!)
2 tbsp ketchup
1 cup large flake rolled oats
1 cup sauteed spinach (this was probably 3 or 4 cups raw?)
1/2 cup shredded carrots
1 egg
dash Worchestershire sauce

Mix it all together, shape into balls and cook in muffin tins for 45 mins at 350, or until a meat thermometer reads 160F.

They are a great quick lunch. I even had one for lunch today!

:: things i love friday ::

- Smythe les vestes: I want this blazer! I have been drooling over their jackets for a couple Fall seasons now. If only I had an extra $600 kicking around. Ha!

- this lovely (Canadian) wedding featured on Etsy. More pictures at Style Me Pretty. I want to get married (to the same honey) again! Just gorgeous!

- My new app for iPhone called "Things". Paired with the desktop program, it has successfully (and in a very organized fashion) allowed me to transfer the to-do list constantly running in my brain into my computer. I feel so free! The app is not free however. At $9.99 it is the most expensive app I have bought to date. The desktop program is $59.99 and I am wondering if I will fork out for it once my 14 day trial is up. It syncs with my phone, and iCal, and everything though! This list-lover is in love!

- discovering new blogs. Currently loving the Grey Likes family: Baby, Wedding, Nesting

- the hysterical baby laughter when Hunter plays with his jack in the box toy

- watching Hunter devour sushi

- a quiet night at home with the Hubs. Wine, chocolate and a movie.

- Happy weekend!

:: playroom inspiration ::

I love getting reader questions, especially when it sends me on a hunt for inspirational pictures and etsy items! Mon Petit Amour reader Melissa wants to transform her home office into a playroom for her son, Landon.

This room will eventually become his room when a sibling arrives on the scene so it needs to be set up so a bed and dresser can eventually move in.

Here are some ideas for you Melissa! For more inspiration - check out Ohdeedoh's playroom posts, and do some searching on Flickr - I always find all sorts of loveliness on there.

Love this SKOJIG pendant lamp from IKEA.

I love the way the art is displayed here, using dignitet curtain wires and clips from IKEA. If your little guy is a bit young to be creating art, you can hang flash cards too!

Love the idea of big built in storage if you have the space for it. It could really help hide some of the office clutter and extra toys.
etsy train decal
Wall decals are an inexpensive way to add a bit of fun to a room. This train decal looks pretty cute at floor level, though I am not sure the temptation of peeling of stickers is a good thing for a toddler! I might place it a bit higher!

I love the toddler height bench here and the drawer like storage underneath. Looks like something you could rig up with Ikea items.

alphabet print via etsy
Finish it off with a nice big alphabet print with a bit of a transportation theme. I know Melissa is a teacher like moi and we love our alphabet prints!

:: frog lunchpack ::

I love to online browse shop. I often fill up my cart and then close the window - it's a great way to get that thrill without spending any money.

I love to browse Babybot's site because you can shop by theme, colour or gift needs. I found this super cute frog lunchpack in the gift ideas for one year olds. They also have an owl one....but I am trying to expand our horizons!

Speaking of shopping - I was working on a project this long weekend ..... a new website which will be linked to my blog. You can check it out here. I am hoping to launch October 1st!

p.s I love this item because it reminds me of a frog backpack my little brother used to have - which he wore one day, took himself for a walk to a nearby school and searched the halls for me. He was 3! Got driven home by the principal after they figured out who he was, and that I did not in fact attend that school. I can only imagine how worried my mom must have been!
